1. Scope*
1.1 These test methods determine the time of setting ofhydraulic cement by means of the Vicat needle. Two testmethods are given; Method A is the Reference Test Methodusing the manually operated standard Vicat apparatus,whileMethod B permits the use of an automatic Vicat machine thathas, in accordance with the qualification requirements of thismethod, demonstrated acceptable performance.
1.2 The values stated in Sl units are to be regarded asstandard. No other units of measurement are included in thisstandard.
1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafery concerns,if any, associated with its use. l is theresponsibiliry of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and healrh practices and determine the applica-bility of reglatory limitations prior to use.
Warning: Fresh hydraulic cementitious mixtures are caus-tic and may cause chemical burns to skin and tissue uponprolonged exposure.
